August 2022 - Product Updates

September 1, 2022

As always, the Swift team has been hard at work over the past few months building ways to better serve your unique needs.

This month, Swift just got a major upgrade.

TLDR (Too Long; Didn't Read);

At a glance, here's what we're launching today:

  • A new, upgraded way to set prices for services (see demo)
  • Multi-slot checkout for customers (see demo)
  • Drop-in classes and camps (see demo)
  • Duplicating & filtering classes
  • Other bug fixes and stability improvements!

Let's break down exactly what's been added and it's going to make your (and your customers') lives easier.

Pricing 2.0

Having spoken to hundreds of facility owners, we've seen pretty much everything related to pricing. And despite how unique each business is, there are a lot of common patterns.

Things like:

  • Different prices for different groups of customers (members vs. public)
  • Different prices for different durations (30-min rental vs 60-min)
  • Different prices for different numbers of sessions chosen (1-day vs 3-day vs 5-day camp)

Previously, this either wasn't possible with Swift OR you had to create separate services for each price. This isn't great because it clutters the booking page for your customers, and it's more work for you and your staff to manage.

Not anymore.

With Pricing 2.0 - we're introducing 3 broad "types" of prices that can accommodate all sorts of crazy pricing structures.

Pricing Categories (Fixed, Unit, & Volume)

If you visit any of your services now, you'll notice that there's a new "price type" field, which is either Fixed, Unit, or Volume.

Here's how they work:

Fixed Pricing: As the name suggests, a fixed price is the same regardless of duration, number of sessions booked, or anything else. Right now, lessons are the only service with fixed pricing (because their duration is pre-defined)

Unit Pricing: Unit pricing allows you to create pricing dependent on some "unit" (either duration or number of sessions booked). For example, you can create 2 prices for the same rental. A 30-minute price ($50), and a 60-minute price ($75). Or you can create 3 prices for the same camp (1-session price of $100, 3-session price of $175, and 5-session price of $250).

Volume Pricing: Volume pricing is like unit pricing, except you can set ranges of prices. For example, instead of saying "This is our 30-minute rental price, and this is our 60-minute rental price", you might want to say "For 30 minutes, we charge $50 - and for anything over 30 minutes we charge $40/hr". That distinction is key because you can create discounts based on the volume of "stuff" bought by your customers.

What about my existing services?

We've migrated the data in a way that none of your existing services are affected. If you want to consolidate your different services into one, feel free to do so. But you don't need to (and your customers won't notice any changes).

Sounds complicated? Don't worry, I get it.

That's why we made this 3-minute demo video to explain everything. Highly recommend giving it a watch.

Multi-Slot Checkout

A hotly requested feature with our facilities (and more importantly, their customers) is the ability to book multiple rentals, lessons, or sessions all in "one checkout". This makes their lives easier, especially if they know in advance when they want to come.

And that's exactly what we made possible.

Introducing a beautiful, sleek, multi-slot Swift checkout:

Drop-In Classes & Camps

Previously, classes on Swift were fixed. When customers paid, they were registered for all sessions upfront, and there wasn't really any ability to do "drop-in" style classes.

We realized pretty quickly that a lot of our facilities want to offer different styles of classes or semi-private group training, where different customers "drop in" to different sessions.

With this release, you can offer exactly that. Here's a short video to explain:

Duplicating and Filtering

Classes also got some minor upgrades. For example, you can now hit a "Duplicate" button and easily duplicate similar classes. We know the classes page can get long, so now you can also filter for completed classes - and see relevant info. like their status and sign up deadlines.

Hit the "Duplicate" button to easily copy a class and its configuration.

The new classes page can be filtered and shows all the relevant info at a glance.

What's next?

As always, we're always cooking ways to make the product the best way to run your facility. Here's a sneak peek at some of the features coming in the next few months:

  • Memberships with quotas & credits (ex: "one free rental a day")
  • Wallets (ex: keep the refund as credit at your facility, instead of giving it back)
  • Family accounts & teams
  • and much more!
